Looking for a unique destination for your engagement photos?

The Globetrotting Groom and I are back Arizona and I'll be posting several entries about our fun-filled trip. Aside from the amazing destination wedding locations in Sedona (stay tuned...), I uncovered a really fun spot for engagement photos in Phoenix.

If you're thinking about a destination engagement shoot with a Southwest flavor, you'll want to check out the
Desert Botanical Garden. Now through May 31, they've got a really cool and colorful Dale Chihuly: The Nature of Glass exhibit going on. Aside from the amazing desert backdrop (hello skyscraper cactus!), how cool are these ginormous glass sculptures?

Skinny Girl Margaritas! Ole!

I learned on Cinco de Mayo that a typical margarita has about 740 calories! I had no idea my favorite cocktail could be as fattening as a cheeseburger...

Since I love The Real Housewives of New York, I thought I'd share with you Bethany Frankel's recipe for The Skinny Girls Margarita that was featured on the show last week:

The Skinny Girls Margarita

On the Rocks

What you’ll need:

* 2 oz of clear Tequila (100% agave, Patron Silver) count 1, 2 while you pour, no need for measuring
* A splash of fresh lime juice
* A splash of Cointreau, Grand Marnier or Triple Sec

Combine all ingredients over a glass of ice

Garnish with a lime wedge and salt (or sugar) if you’d like.

Since everyone loves a margarita, why not mix up a batch of these for your next bachelorette party or summer BBQ? I think they would also make a great signature cocktail for engagement parties and weddings too.

Give her the key to your heart...

Here's an idea for guys who are afraid to pick out an engagement ring. What if you gave your gal one of Tiffany's new key necklace and said "Here's the key to my heart. Let's go ring shopping?"

The guy gets to surprise the girl and the girl gets double bling. How perfect is that? The necklaces start at $100 and go up to $15K. They would also be great wedding, birthday or anniversary gifts...

Wedding Proposal Gone Bad!

Ok, remember how I posted on what a great place the Brooklyn Bridge is for a proposal??

Imagine you're on the pedestrian walkway of the Brooklyn Bridge and your boyfriend is just about to propose.

He opens the ring box and suddenly the engagement ring falls out and drops through the wood planks down below.

You gasp! Everyone screams!

He climbs down into oncoming traffic to get the ring and miraculously finds it!

Wow! Talk about a happy ending....

In case you missed it, click here to see the Today show video.

Is the umbrella the new balloon???

Remember my post about our engagement photo shoot on the Brooklyn Bridge?

Theresa over at
Diagnosis Deferred posted these great Candice Stringham pics last week and asked "Is the umbrella the new balloon?"

It reminded me that I had some Brooklyn Bridge umbrella photos too. Not because I was ahead of the balloon curve but because it was actually raining off and on that day! Of course, I did bring along my prettiest umbrella...

Here are some pics:

Jonesing for a cool customized wedding touch?

I love personalized touches for wedding related events so these customized soda bottles from Jones Soda caught my eye.

Just visit myjones.com, upload your photo and personalized text, pick the soda flavor and voila, two-three weeks later, you're personalized sodas are at your doorstep. The flavors are super-fun (think berry lemonade, blue bubblegum, fufu berry, green apple, etc.) and colorful (blue, pink, green. peach, red, etc.). I test drove three flavors and they were all delicious (must be the pure cane sugar). The flavors rotate so be sure to check the site often to find the flavor/colors that match your event.

I think they would be a really fun touch for a bridal shower, engagement party or casual wedding. I also think they'd make great party favors along with a recipe for a signature cocktail.

Brooklyn Bridge, Brides and Balloons...Oh my!

Here's part two to the story I did yesterday on my Brooklyn Bridge engagement shoot.

Did you know that the Brooklyn Bridge is also a great backdrop for a proposal? Check out this story where the groom-to-be had strangers hand his bride-to-be pink balloons and notes.

And, since Theresa asked about bringing balloons for a photo shoot (great idea, BTW), here are some inspiring Sarah Jessica Parker videos....

Want to be like Sarah Jessica Parker? Here's an amazing photo shoot location.

Did you see this month's Harper's Bazaar cover with Sarah Jessica Parker? Gorgeous right?

It reminded me of our engagement photo shoot which just happened to take place on the very same Brooklyn Bridge!!!

If you're in looking for an interesting NYC venue for an engagement or wedding shoot, you'll want to give this a thought. Here are some of my favorite pics from the day:
